Zarenhof Hotels - three-stars
history of success
Established in 2004 the Hotel Zarenhof Berlin-Mitte welcomes the capital city's guests in the best Russian traditions of the Russian tsar's age.
In 2008 the second Hotel Apartmenthaus Zarenhof in Prenzlauer Berg was opened. Here the sense of the so called Silver Age fills the air. The concept allowing tourists, business people and families with children to stay in comfortable and reasonably-priced rooms has shown its value.
The concept's popularity gave us reason to expand from one to two and we are continuing to expand with planned new hotels in Berlin Friedrichshain and Alexanderplatz.
Taking interest in history of the Tsar’s family
The idea to open a three-star hotel in the Tsar style was inspired by a great interest in the history and the destiny of the royal family. For many years the hotels' founder Alex-Roman Balan has collected etchings, photos, facts of the Tsar’s family, thoroughly working through the Russian and German archives. Owing to his efforts he has eventually become an owner of a large and precious collection. Our hotels have become the place where these precious archive objects are exhibited. That is why every step you take in our hotel will be accompanied by the Russian Royal Family.
The tsars in Berlin
The hotel founder was enchanted by Berlin, the place that once was the home for tsars, emperors and other titled persons. The Russian Tsar's family was connected with the German capital city by means of business as well as personal relations.
The last Russian tsar Nicholas II often visited Berlin to conduct state negotiations with Wilhelm II. Additionally the Russian tsar was related to Germany through his wife, Alexandra Feodorovna - Alix of Hesse, who was part of the governing family of Hesse-Darmstadt duchy. German by blood, she was never German by spirit. The only feature, reminding of her origin, was her domestic economy.
The last Russian tsar Nicholas II is one of the most dramatic characters in history. His name represents the Great Russian monarchy and is a symbol of Russian sanctity, "the depth" of the Russian heart and "broadness" of the Russian soul.
